Our Top 5 Places To Have A Drink In Newcastle

There is so much to do in Newcastle, a full day of shopping, going to the football, taking a walk around the historic castle. But after all of that it’s nice to have a sit down, relax and have a delicious drink in hand.

There are so many creative and incredible drinks bars in Newcastle but here are our top five:

1. Banyan

Banyan is a stylish and modern bar and serves the most delicious food and drinks all day long, however their drinks are something special and the variety of drinks they sell is like no other. They have amazing offers on their cocktails with a 2-4-1 deal. They have Gin, Wine, Rosé and of course cocktails including the iconic Mango Margarita and the Banyan Iced Tea. They even offer cocktail trees if you want to celebrate a special occasion.

We recommend for: drinks night with friends.

2. Revolution

Revolution is popular in every city however it is especially popular in Newcastle. It is an enthusiastic and well styled chain bar serving classics in the food and drink department with nightly happy hours. Considering they provide one of the highest quality cocktails we know of, this bar offers some of their most known cocktails at a 2 for £10 deal during their happy hour. What a bargain. Some of our favourites are the Pornstar Martini and Polish Bullet.

We recommend for: drinks with the family.

  • Open Sunday – Thursday 12:00pm – 12:00am
  • Friday 12:00pm – 1:00am
  • Saturday 12:00pm – 2:00am

3. The Botanist

The Botanist is located right next to Banyan in the centre of Newcastle and overlooks the monument and the heartly city. As it is located high up and you do have to take what feels like thousands of steps to reach it (but don’t worry there is a lift), however is probably the most stunning cocktail bar you will visit. Going through the centre of the bar there is beautiful greenery almost like a flower garden. They also play live music on selected days to keep the mood high and energy up. In our opinion they defiantly offer the most unique and different cocktails steering away from the classics just like the Lilipad Martini and the Plant Pot cocktail.

We recommend for: date night.

  • Open Monday – Thursday 12:00pm – 12:00am
  • Friday – Saturday 12;00pm – 1:00am
  • Sunday 12:00pm – 11:00pm

4. The Mad House

Now if you are looking for something pretty unique and an experience you will never forget The Mad house is the place for you. They are known to be funky, quirky, and full of surprises. As this experience is like no other, their cocktails and venue aren’t either. You know when you go to a normal bar you still down at your regular looking table, well not here, you sit down and drink your heart away on toilet seats, baths and swings. When looking at their cocktail selection they offer anything from names like the Pick N Mix and Party Punch to Gold Digger and Peach’s Pouch.

We recommend for: a celebration with friends.

  • Open Wednesday and Thursday 10:00am – 11:00pm
  • Friday and Saturday 10:00am – 12:00am
  • Sunday 10:00am – 10:00pm
  • Closed Monday and Tuesday

5. WC Newcastle

WC is located beneath the city lights in a warm subterranean area. Even though it lies beneath the heart and culture of the city it still has a loud voice attracting people from all surrounding areas. It’s found in a former water closet, offering creative and classic cocktails with a romantic feel. The cocktails are made to perfection with a pretty fair price tag. They offer the signature serves where you can choose from a mix of six of their vodka-based signatures, gin based, rum based, and many more.

We recommend for: drinks out with a partner.
